UNPROFITABLE SERVANT

So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, "We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do." - Luke 17:10

Give Thanks
Dear Congregation

We are thankful because the God who created the entirety of the universe has condescended to seek relationship with humanity by means of covenant.  When we abandoned His first covenant arrangement (what theologians call a covenant of works) and fell into sin, eating of the forbidden fruit, being unfaithful to his Creator, God the Father established a covenant of grace with His Son, that the Son would go to earth and fulfill all righteousness through perfect obedience and faithfulness to His Father, then proffering his life as a substitutionary atonement for our sin, effectually calling His people into a renewed covenant of grace, offering us salvation freely, that which is received by faith.

Please be thankful and hide in your hearts the verses of the month for October and November !

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation
for everyone who believes,
for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed
from faith to faith;
as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
Romans 1:16, 17

We ARE thankful.  (Or we should be.)

Come, be a thankful people by coming to worship the Lord this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Sunday School at 9:30 for all ages.  Discovery class at 9:30 a.m.   The focus this Sunday, and the focus on Wednesday at our annual Thanksgiving Eve Service of Prayer and Singing is  . . .  giving THANKS to the ONE who loves us, cares for us, knows all about our problems, knows all about the problems we are not even aware of, and also is there for us through it all.

We thank God for outreach ministries to the neighborhood and to our boys and girls this evening, at Pioneer Girls and Stockade, 7 p.m.

We thank God for the ministry of RRPC at Stanton Nursing Home.  Howdy Pilgrim !  (Ask brother Chuck about that one !)  Yes we are all pilgrims when we're Christians, it's not just the Plymouth Rock people who get that name. "This world is not my home, I'm just a passin' through".  We seek to be kingdom people who honor God and bless His creation, but we can't do that deeply and significantly and lastingly if we think that this creation is all there is.  There is a New Heaven and a New Earth in our future as believers.

With love to you all in Christ,
Pastor Ned
